Akhilesh Pathak has assumed charge as Director (Projects) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited with effect from September 30.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) has appointed Akhilesh Pathak as Director (Projects) with effect from September 30.
The Ministry of Power conveyed his appointment through an order dated September 30. Pathak will hold the position until his superannuation on May 31, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recommended Pathak for the post on June 30. He was selected from a panel of 12 candidates interviewed by the PESB.
Following his assumption of charge, the Power Grid Board of Directors approved his appointment as Additional Director {Director (Projects)} at its meeting on September 30.
With Pathak taking charge, Power Grid Chairman and Managing Director Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan relinquished the additional charge of Director (Projects).
Power Grid appoints experienced transmission professional
Pathak holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Mangalore University, Karnataka. He completed his engineering degree in 1991.
He has also completed the Harvard ManageMentor Program conducted by Harvard Business School.
Pathak has more than 32 years of experience in the power sector. His professional experience covers transmission system planning, project execution, project management, business development and strategic infrastructure development.
He joined Power Grid as part of the organisation’s first batch of Executive Trainees in 1993. Since then, he has held several key leadership positions.
Pathak’s experience in transmission projects
Pathak has worked on the development, execution, monitoring and commissioning of extra-high-voltage transmission lines and substations.
During his tenure in Power Grid’s Project Management Department, he contributed to capital expenditure utilisation, asset capitalisation and transmission line additions.
He also worked on critical project implementation issues through stakeholder coordination and project monitoring.
Pathak led the Arun-3 SAPDC Transmission Project in Nepal. The project involved cross-border, regulatory and geographical challenges.
He has also contributed to Power Grid’s business development activities. These include the expansion of consultancy services and initiatives aimed at revenue growth.
Pathak served as Executive Director, OSD (Projects)
Before taking charge as Director (Projects), Pathak was serving as Executive Director, OSD (Projects) at Power Grid.
His experience spans project management, transmission infrastructure development, international projects, business development and strategic infrastructure development.
His appointment adds to Power Grid’s leadership experience in transmission project execution and infrastructure development.
