PM Modi Encourages IAS Officers to Shape India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 Roadmap

As India prepares to become a developed nation by 2047, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged young civil servants to embrace innovation, integrity, and citizen-centric governance throughout their administrative careers. He also urged them to become important drivers of this transition.

During his interaction with the 183 IAS Officer Trainees of the 2024 batch at Seva Teerth in New Delhi, the Prime Minister stressed that the officers are now at a pivotal juncture where their decisions will impact the lives of millions of people and determine the nation’s future. The officers have gained both field experience and administrative training.

In a speech evoking the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, Prime Minister Modi emphasised that, going forward, all governmental actions and policy decisions must help to construct a developed India. Atmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, manufacturing growth, energy security, and youth employment generation were among the national priorities he emphasised to the young officers.

Data, according to the prime minister, should not be seen as meaningless statistics but rather as a window into the hopes, fears, and experiences of millions of people. This highlights the significance of data-driven governance. He emphasised that officers should prioritise evaluating the practical impact of government programs and find fulfilment in achieving measurable objectives rather than being defined by their posts.

Prime Minister Modi emphasised to the trainees that each administrative file reflects the aspirations and worries of individuals. By promoting the idea of “Nagrik Devo Bhava,” he hoped to persuade public servants to keep government compassionate, open, responsive, and welcoming to all people.

The Prime Minister emphasised that many developmental difficulties cannot be solved in isolation and called for stronger interdepartmental interaction. In order to achieve significant and long-lasting results, he emphasised the need of a government-wide strategy in which several agencies collaborate.

Also brought up by the prime minister was the change from process-driven administration to result-oriented governance that has taken place in Indian governance over the past decade. He mentioned how improvements in service delivery and transparency have been brought about by the increasing use of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and modern governance systems.

In light of the growing importance of women in nation-building, Prime Minister Modi has pointed out that over 40% of the current batch of IAS Officer Trainees are female officers.

Somanathan, Secretary (DoPT) Rachna Shah, LBSNAA Director Sriram Taranikanti, along with others.
