ONGC Reports Major Progress in Blowout Control Operations at Andhra Well

ONGC has made significant progress in controlling a blowout at the Mori-5 well in Andhra Pradesh’s Dr B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.

The intensity of fire, noise levels, and ambient heat near the well have reduced substantially. Operations are being managed by the Crisis Management Team based on an approved control plan, which includes completing an approach road for debris clearance and establishing a water blanket at the site to facilitate further operations.

As the situation improves, local residents have been advised to resume normal activities. The blowout, which occurred during repair work, released gas mixed with crude oil, leading to the evacuation of over 500 residents, although no injuries were reported.

ONGC emphasizes the safety of the community and environmental protection as top priorities.
