NLC India Inaugurates Auditorium at Sneha Opportunity School, Upgrades Temple Infrastructure

By completing significant infrastructure improvements at the historic Veludayanpattu Sri Siva Subramania Swamy Temple in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, and inaugurating a modern auditorium at Sneha Opportunity School (SOS), NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has further strengthened its legacy of social responsibility and community development.

Efforts to improve the lives of disadvantaged and marginalised people in India through healthcare, education, and skill development predate the official requirement of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Free education, creche and opportunity to develop skills are provided to children with disabilities and special needs at the Sneha Opportunity School, one of its most significant programs.

Transforming an open shed on the school site into a fully operational, state-of-the-art auditorium at a cost of ₹22 lakh was a major accomplishment for the institution. The new building has state-of-the-art restrooms, a green room, a large hall for performances and other student events, and a stage for more informal gatherings.

Due to well-planned and executed tasks, the project was finished more quickly than the 120-day deadline. The auditorium will offer a welcoming space for students to take part in events, display their abilities, gain self-assurance, and enhance social interactions with its contemporary conveniences, high-quality fake ceilings, and vitrified tile flooring.

President Smt. Radhika Prasanna Kumar Motupalli of Sneha Opportunity School, along with Prasanna Kumar Motupalli of NLC India Limited, Director (HR) Samir Swarup, CGM (Township Administration) B. Vaidyanathan, and Secretary of SOS Dr. Vijayakumari, inaugurated the auditorium on 20 June 2026.

Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, speaking to the audience, praised the school administration and construction crew for finishing the auditorium ahead of schedule. He brought attention to the fact that the school has implemented a number of best practices, such as a computer lab, a mid-day meal program, and free transportation, after researching comparable schools in India. The school’s strength has doubled to 114 kids, thanks in large part to these initiatives, which have precipitated an impressive surge in enrolment.

The Chief Medical Director recalled the visit of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who had lauded the institution’s initiatives to empower children with disabilities, and stressed that assisting these children is an honourable duty. Additionally, he gave special recognition to Smt. Radhika Motupalli for all of her hard work in raising the school’s quality.

At the event, Smt. Radhika Motupalli thanked NLC India Limited for its consistent funding of the school’s physical improvements and the development of a supportive learning environment for kids with intellectual disabilities, and she restated the school’s commitment to serving these children.

Among NLC India’s many community-oriented projects, the restoration of the revered Veludayanpattu Sri Siva Subramania Swamy Temple—also called Veludayanpattu Murugan Kovil—has been finished. Lord Murugan’s unconventional weaponry, a bow and seven arrows rather of the conventional Vel, is the focal point of the temple’s distinctive artwork.

At a cost of ₹1.58 crore, NLC India repaired the praharam of the temple after the Kumbabishekam ceremony in March 2026 was successful. In the presence of senior company officials, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli and Smt. Radhika Prasanna Kumar Motupalli formally dedicated the refurbished structure to devotees on 20 June 2026.

The utilisation of alloy steel, which guarantees increased durability and corrosion resistance, is a remarkable aspect of the restored structure. The aesthetic decoration of the temple praharam with representations of the six holy dwellings of Lord Muruga (Arupadai Veedu) further enhances the site’s spiritual and cultural significance.

In its project regions, NLC India Limited is making a lasting social impact through its efforts that promote inclusive growth, educational empowerment, heritage preservation, and community welfare.
