The Railway Board has approved the appointment of Shri Anjum Pervez, currently Director (Projects) at National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), as the company’s Managing Director.
Pervez will take charge on a re-employment contract for two years. The tenure will begin from the date he assumes charge on or after October 1, 2026. It will continue until the end of the two-year period or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The Railway Board issued the appointment order in relaxation of the existing guidelines. NHSRCL has been directed to inform the Railway Board of the actual date on which Pervez assumes charge.
NHSRCL Leadership Transition
Pervez currently serves as Director (Projects) at NHSRCL. His appointment as Managing Director comes as the company continues work on India’s first high-speed rail corridor.
NHSRCL is implementing the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) project. The corporation was set up to develop and implement high-speed rail projects in India. Its work includes project planning, construction coordination and development of the high-speed rail infrastructure.
The MAHSR corridor is designed to connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad through high-speed rail. The project has recorded several construction milestones in 2026, including progress on tunnels, bridges, viaducts and track installation.
NHSRCL Continues High-Speed Rail Project Work
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor remains the central project being implemented by NHSRCL. The corporation has been advancing construction across different sections of the corridor, including major civil structures and station-related works.
The project is also expected to strengthen connectivity between major economic centres along the corridor. The government has highlighted its potential to support regional economic activity, tourism and related industries through faster inter-city connectivity.
Pervez’s appointment places the leadership of NHSRCL under a new two-year mandate as the corporation continues to oversee the execution of the high-speed rail project and related infrastructure works.
The company has been asked to formally communicate his date of assumption of charge following the Railway Board’s approval.
