A 2,000 MW hydropower project being developed by a private company in Madhya Pradesh’s Neemuch district is ready, with power generation expected to begin in March 2027, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Thursday.
Neemuch Hydropower Project to Boost Power Generation
The ₹6,000-crore project is among the largest of its kind in Asia. One of its turbines is expected to become operational in December, Yadav told reporters.
“The 2,000 MW project is expected to become fully operational by March next year. The project will boost Madhya Pradesh’s power generation capacity and give the state a new identity in the renewable energy sector,” he said.
Madhya Pradesh to Celebrate Govardhan Puja on a Grand Scale
The Chief Minister also said that his government would celebrate Govardhan Puja on a grand scale this year and award cash prizes to cattle rearers whose indigenous milch cows win competitions.
CM Meets Senior RSS Functionaries
Meanwhile, officials said Yadav met senior functionaries of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Daly College. However, neither the state government nor the RSS released details of the meeting, which lasted around an hour.
The RSS held its annual Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal meeting at Daly College from November 2 to 4. Around 400 representatives of the Sangh Parivar, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, attended the meeting.
