NHPC’s Paresh Ranpara Reviews Kishanganga Power Station

Paresh Ranpara, Director (Personnel) of NHPC Limited, visited the company’s Kishanganga Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir on October 13–14, 2026, accompanied by the Executive Director (Human Resources), for a senior-level review of the facility.

The visit allowed NHPC’s leadership to assess operations at the hydropower station and engage with the personnel responsible for its day-to-day functioning.

Strengthening Operational Oversight

The Kishanganga Power Station is an important component of NHPC’s hydropower portfolio, contributing to electricity generation in the region.

Senior management visits to operational facilities play a key role in strengthening coordination between corporate leadership and project teams, particularly at hydropower installations in geographically challenging areas.

Such reviews also provide an opportunity to understand operational requirements, identify workforce-related concerns and reinforce institutional support for field personnel.

Focus on Workforce Engagement and Institutional Coordination

The visit is significant from a human resource management perspective, as maintaining operational efficiency at remote hydropower facilities requires skilled personnel, effective communication, and sustained organisational support.

For NHPC, regular interaction between senior executives and station-level teams is a key part of workforce management and operational coordination.

The review also reflects the importance of aligning personnel-related priorities with the broader requirements of reliable power generation.

Kishanganga Power Station’s Role in India’s Hydropower Sector

Located in Bandipora district, the 330 MW Kishanganga Hydroelectric Power Station is part of NHPC’s operational portfolio and contributes to India’s hydroelectric generation capacity.

The project represents an important component of the country’s hydropower infrastructure, particularly in the Himalayan region, where geographical and climatic conditions demand specialised engineering capabilities and sustained operational attention.

NHPC, a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, continues to play a significant role in developing and operating hydropower assets across India.

The latest leadership visit to Kishanganga highlights the importance of management oversight, employee engagement and institutional coordination in maintaining the effectiveness of critical energy infrastructure.
