The Department of Pharmaceuticals, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), will host the 9th India Medical Device 2026 conference on August 7–8 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, healthcare professionals and innovators to discuss the future of India’s rapidly growing medical technology (MedTech) sector.
Themed “Towards Viksit Bharat: Advancing India as a Global Hub for Quality Medical Devices,” the two-day event will focus on strengthening domestic manufacturing, encouraging innovation and positioning India as a global hub for quality medical devices.
Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers Anupriya Patel will inaugurate the conference on August 7, while Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will deliver the keynote address on “Atmanirbhar MedTech: Accelerating India’s Journey towards Viksit Bharat” on August 8.
The conference will feature discussions on key issues shaping the MedTech industry, including component manufacturing, artificial intelligence in healthcare, medical device regulations, export opportunities, clinical evidence, reimbursement mechanisms for innovative therapies and strengthening India’s service ecosystem for medical equipment.
Ahead of the event, Department of Pharmaceuticals Secretary Manoj Joshi said the conference would serve as a platform to showcase India’s growing MedTech capabilities, promote global partnerships and support innovation-led manufacturing. Industry representatives also stressed the importance of collaboration between government, industry, academia and healthcare institutions to accelerate the sector’s growth.
Leading medical device companies, including GE HealthCare, Abbott Healthcare, Philips India, Medtronic India, Johnson & Johnson MedTech and Hindustan Syringes & Medical Devices Ltd., are expected to participate alongside startups, researchers and healthcare institutions.
The event will also showcase emerging technologies and startup innovations while highlighting the government’s efforts to build a self-reliant and globally competitive medical devices industry aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
