India and Afghanistan Explore Deeper Cooperation in the Textile Sector

A high-level delegation from Afghanistan, led by Shafiullah Azam, met with the Indian delegation headed by A. Bipin Menon on 24 November 2025 in New Delhi to discuss economic collaboration in the textile sector.

Afghanistan aims to strengthen its textile ecosystem, create jobs, and improve training for cotton farmers. In 2024, India exported USD 68.7 million in textiles to Afghanistan, which imported USD 742.8 million globally.

The discussions included technical support for Afghan cotton farmers, shipment facilitation, and increased industry engagement. The meeting ended positively, highlighting future collaboration potential.
