HAL Appoints New Government Nominee Director

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has appointed Anindya Biswas, DS & DG (Aero), DRDO, as a Part-time Official Director and Government Nominee Director on its Board. The appointment has been made with effect from 7 October 2026 and will remain in effect until further orders.

The appointment follows a letter issued by the Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production, dated 1 October 2026. The HAL Board approved the appointment and also noted the withdrawal of the nomination of Dr. K Rajalakshmi Menon by the Ministry of Defence.

HAL Appoints DRDO Official to Board

Anindya Biswas, who holds DIN 11987154, is currently serving as DS & Director at Research Centre Imarat (RCI), DRDO. He brings extensive experience in the indigenous design, development and production of advanced avionic sub-systems for various missile systems developed in India.

Biswas joined DRDO in 1992 and has contributed to several defence programmes covering glide bombs, anti-radiation missiles, surface-to-air missiles, ballistic missile defence systems, anti-ship missiles, anti-tank missiles and UAV-launched missiles.

His experience spans the development of advanced defence technologies and indigenous systems, particularly in the field of avionics and missile-related applications.

Anindya Biswas’ Academic and Professional Background

Biswas is a recipient of the DRDO Young Scientists Award and the Scientist of the Year Award. He holds a graduation degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, and an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur.

His appointment brings a senior DRDO professional with experience in defence research and indigenous technology development to the HAL Board.

The company has also disclosed that Biswas is not related to any other director of HAL and does not hold any shares in the company.

Appointment Subject to Shareholder Approval

The appointment of Anindya Biswas as Part-time Official Director and Government Nominee Director is subject to approval by HAL shareholders at a General Meeting.

The Board meeting at which the appointment was approved commenced at 1400 hours and concluded at 1530 hours.
