ECL Director Inspects Mugma Mines, Signals Major Expansion Plans

During his visit to the Mugma Area on 27 February 2026, Niladri Roy, Director (Technical Operations) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), evaluated the current mining activities and planned future development projects. The goals of the visit were to prepare for strategic growth, increase operational efficiency, and fortify safety standards.

While inspecting Chapapur-II OCP (H), Roy went over the OB and coal production benches and went over the expansion plans in detail to make sure they could handle more production. Important infrastructure suggestions were building a new coal depot to accommodate future growth and rerouting overhead lines, relocating highways, offices and residential colonies.
At the meeting, the director was joined by Raj Kishore Singh, AGM of Mugma Area, and the agent of Chapapur. The group shared operational updates that demonstrated ECL’s commitment to sustainable growth, efficiency, and safety while mining.

The purpose of this trip is to highlight ECL’s dedication to sustainable development and operational excellence in the coal mining industry in India.
