DMRC Asset Management Gets Major Boost With ISO 55001:2024 Certification

DMRC ISO Certification Achieved for Mumbai Metro Line-3

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has achieved DMRC ISO Certification for its Asset Management System for Mumbai Metro Line-3.

DMRC has become the first metro organisation in India to receive the ISO 55001:2024 certification. The milestone strengthens its approach to strategic, risk-based and lifecycle-oriented asset management.

The certification focuses on asset performance, operational risk, lifecycle costs, safety, reliability and sustainability.

DMRC ISO Certification Strengthens Asset Management

The DMRC ISO Certification provides a globally recognised framework for managing assets throughout their lifecycle.

The system helps DMRC balance asset performance, operational risks and lifecycle costs. It is designed to improve reliability, optimise resource utilisation and support long-term sustainability.

DMRC has also strengthened its Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP). The plan aligns asset management objectives with the organisation’s wider priorities.

Risk-Based Asset Management Improves Operations

DMRC has enhanced risk assessment and lifecycle controls under its asset management framework.

The organisation is also using training, capacity building, key performance indicators (KPIs), audits and management reviews to monitor performance.

These measures are aimed at improving asset reliability and supporting safe and efficient metro operations.

DMRC ISO Certification Covers 33.5-km Metro Corridor

The DMRC ISO Certification applies to the Asset Management System for Mumbai Metro Line-3.

DMRC is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the 33.5-km corridor connecting Colaba, Bandra and SEEPZ.

Its responsibilities include rolling stock, traction, signalling, telecommunications, stations, lifts, escalators, track and civil infrastructure.

The certification is significant because these assets are critical to the safe and reliable operation of the metro corridor.

DMRC Sets New Metro Asset Management Benchmark

The DMRC ISO Certification marks a major development in asset management for India’s urban rail sector.

The certification strengthens DMRC’s metro operations and maintenance capabilities. It also promotes a more scientific, risk-based and lifecycle-focused approach to managing critical infrastructure.

The milestone could encourage wider adoption of international asset management practices across India’s urban rail sector.
