Delhi has achieved over 250 MW of rooftop solar capacity and aims to reach 500 MW by 2027, as announced by Minister Ravinder Indraj during the International Solar Alliance’s Eighth General Assembly.
The Delhi government is focused on simplifying subsidy processes and enhancing service speed under the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana. Indraj noted that Delhi’s peak power demand exceeds 8,000 MW during summers but has maintained reliable electricity supply.
The city’s new Solar Policy aims to turn rooftops into power plants. Additionally, Delhi plans to electrify 80% of its public transport fleet by 2030 while promoting electric vehicles.
The Minister praised initiatives by BSES to integrate solar energy and battery storage, calling for Delhi to become a model Green City.
