The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, will organise a two-day international conference-cum-exhibition titled “Making Indian Power Sector AI Enabled” on October 14–15, 2026, at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. The event will bring together government officials, policymakers, industry leaders, technology experts, researchers and other stakeholders to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can transform India’s electricity sector.
CEA Conference to Explore AI Applications in Power Sector
The conclave will examine practical applications of AI across the electricity value chain, with a focus on improving efficiency, reliability, resilience and sustainability. Discussions will cover conventional power generation, AI-driven regulatory reforms, renewable energy integration, grid flexibility and the modernisation of transmission and distribution networks.
Other focus areas will include grid stability, system restoration, rooftop solar, microgrids and minigrids, AI applications in green data centres, demand response, consumer participation and AI-enabled supply chain management.
Cybersecurity and Digital Innovation in Focus
As electricity systems become increasingly digital and interconnected, cybersecurity and the protection of critical power infrastructure will feature among the key discussion areas. The conference will explore how emerging technologies can support secure and reliable power operations.
A technology exhibition will showcase innovations and solutions for the power sector. The programme will also include a dedicated youth session on AI, Innovation and Opportunities in the Power Sector, providing young innovators and professionals with a platform to explore emerging technologies, industry requirements and career opportunities.
CEA Conclave to Encourage Industry Collaboration
The conference aims to strengthen collaboration among government institutions, electricity utilities, industry, academia and technology providers. Through knowledge-sharing and discussions on investment and technology partnerships, the CEA intends to encourage wider adoption of AI across the power sector.
International participation is also expected to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences on applying AI to electricity systems.
AI-Enabled Power Sector Aligned with India’s Energy Goals
The conclave aligns with India’s broader objectives of strengthening energy security, promoting sustainable development and adopting advanced technologies. It is also expected to contribute to the country’s long-term priorities under Viksit Bharat 2047 and its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
The discussions will examine how the responsible adoption of AI and other emerging technologies can help modernise electricity systems, improve grid management, support renewable energy integration and strengthen infrastructure security. Stakeholders interested in participating have been invited to register through the official CEA website.
