To encourage seafood exports, India’s Department of Fisheries will hold a roundtable meeting with ambassadors from 83 nations on January 21.
India is the sixth-largest exporter of seafood, with 16.98 lakh metric tonnes in 2024–2025, worth Rs 62,408 crore ($7.45 billion).
With an emphasis on sustainability and resilience in value chains, the event, which is presided over by Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, seeks to promote conversations about seafood commerce, market access, and collaboration.
Global seafood trade trends, regulatory collaboration, market diversification, and the significance of adhering to international standards will all be major subjects. It is anticipated that the results will improve livelihoods in the fishing industry and food security.
