Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Minister, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union Tourism Minister, inaugurated the Swarnanagari Express on November 29, connecting Jaisalmer with Delhi.
The train will commence regular operations on December 1 and has been renamed at the request of local leaders. Vaishnaw announced that development at Jaisalmer railway station is nearing completion and efforts will be made for its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also confirmed upgrades to the railway line between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, aimed at enhancing connectivity and strengthening national security in border regions.
New railway lines are proposed for areas along the Rajasthan-Pakistan border to boost infrastructure and tourism. Currently, railway projects worth around Rs 55,000 crore are being executed across Rajasthan, including the redevelopment of numerous stations.
