The Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will now have a commercial stopping at Anantnag, according to a decision reached at a high-level meeting between Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who reviewed current and prospective railway projects.
This decision is anticipated to greatly improve regional connectivity and make it easier for locals, tourists, dealers, and commuters to travel between the Jammu region and the Kashmir Valley.
With the new station at Anantnag, transportation to one of Kashmir’s most important cultural, commercial, and economic hubs will be more streamlined, convenient, and dependable.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah lauded the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express’s beneficial effect on regional transportation and expressed his gratitude for Indian Railways’ revolutionary role in Jammu and Kashmir during the meeting.
The semi-high-speed train service has greatly improved travel between Jammu and Srinagar, says the chief minister, by cutting travel time in half and providing first-rate amenities to passengers.
Omar Abdullah stressed that the expanding railway network was becoming increasingly important in bolstering the economy of the Union Territory, and not only for passenger transit.
Logistics for local businesses and farmers have been greatly enhanced, he said, thanks to the railway system’s efficient freight flow.
Businesses in Kashmir are able to reach bigger markets across India because to the rail network, which carries agricultural products like apples and cherries as well as industrial items like cement.
New business opportunities have opened up for local farmers, merchants, and entrepreneurs as a result of the better rail connectivity, which has also decreased transportation costs and increased supply chain efficiency.
The Indian government’s dedication to speeding up economic growth and infrastructural development in Jammu and Kashmir was reiterated by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who spoke at the event.
He said the government’s decision to establish a commercial halt at Anantnag shows they are listening to local concerns and want to make sure railway infrastructure helps people.
To promote tourism, commerce, job creation, and regional development as a whole, Vaishnaw stressed that Indian Railways will keep improving connectivity and modernising transport facilities in Jammu & Kashmir.
With this declaration, Jammu and Kashmir is taking another giant leap toward better accessibility and economic opportunities as it becomes more interconnected with the national transportation network.
