India is coordinating with the US to gain access to Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, a cutting-edge AI program that would fortify the security of vital digital infrastructure. With AI quickly changing cyber defence and cyber threats, the government is implementing this move as part of a larger strategy to strengthen cyber resilience.
Secretary S. Krishnan of India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) stated at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Cybersecurity Summit in New Delhi that talks are currently underway with US authorities to allow India to use Project Glasswing for cybersecurity stress tests powered by artificial intelligence. He asserted that the platform would provide India with the means to assess the robustness of vital digital systems in the face of emerging AI capabilities.
Even while talks are ongoing, Krishnan said that India’s cybersecurity measures have not ceased. He elaborated on how government agencies may proactively detect vulnerabilities across digital infrastructure by conducting 60–70 percent of cybersecurity testing using currently available AI models.
Several of the most prominent names in technology have joined forces in April’s Project Glasswing, an initiative by Anthropic that unites AWS, Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Palo Alto Networks, among others. Critical software and digital infrastructure are the primary targets of the partnership’s efforts to counteract the proliferation of AI-driven cyber threats.
These talks also occur at a time when multinational IT firms are stepping up their cybersecurity game to counteract AI’s increasing powers. According to reports, in order to better defend users from cyberattacks that utilise artificial intelligence and new hacking tactics, Apple is sending security patches earlier than usual and speeding up software upgrades.
In view of the increasing sophistication of cyber attacks, India is making strides to protect its government networks, digital public infrastructure, and important information systems by conducting cybersecurity testing using cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies. Having access to Project Glasswing might greatly improve India’s vulnerability scanning capabilities, allowing them to detect and prevent attacks before they happen.
