Executives from NMDC Limited have taken stock of the Donimalai Complex in Karnataka’s capacity expansion, digitalisation, and sustainable mining projects in an effort to boost operational efficiency and reach the company’s long-term growth goals.
On a recent visit, senior management from NMDC examined the Donimalai Complex’s (17 MTPA) and Kumaraswamy Mine’s (10) ongoing infrastructure development projects, with the goal of boosting output capacity to 10 MTPA and 17 MTPA, respectively. Achieving the company’s goal of becoming a 100 MTPA mining company is heavily dependent on the expansion.
The management team also went over plans to use beneficiation and scientific mineral processing to make use of low-grade iron ore deposits, such as iron ore slimes, Banded Haematite Jasper (BHJ), and Banded Haematite Quartzite (BHQ). The objective is to promote sustainable mining operations, lessen waste, and enhance mineral conservation.
The newly installed automated gate management system at the Kumaraswamy Mine was also examined by management. This system allows for the real-time monitoring of iron ore deliveries and improves transparency, operational efficiency, and resource security.
High-rise residential towers and newly-developed infrastructure facilities were opened by NMDC’s Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee and other functional directors, highlighting the company’s dedication to employee welfare and community development.
