At the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke during a session on “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity” and expressed his satisfaction with the developments in West Asia toward peace. The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of a united global effort to tackle shared problems and enhance international collaboration in light of the growing uncertainty in the world today.
When asked about the effects of regional wars, Prime Minister Modi remarked that the continuing tensions in West Asia have affected global economic stability and resulted in heavy casualties and damage to property in friendly states. He brought up the fact that global supply chains and business have been hit hard by interruptions to shipping and energy across the Strait of Hormuz.
The prime minister restated India’s long-held belief that the best way for nations to establish sustainable peace is through diplomatic engagement and collaboration. He stressed the need of peaceful involvement and productive conversations in resolving geopolitical tensions and armed crises.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his deep worry over the human toll of wars, mentioning the loss of life of several innocent Indian residents in the impacted regions. Seafarers, he said, play an essential role in easing international trade and guaranteeing economic connectedness between countries. Sea lanes must be protected so that seafarers may do their jobs without fear, he said, emphasising the importance of maritime security.
India is ready to collaborate with other nations to improve marine security, advance peace, and protect international trade routes, according to the prime minister. His comments coincide with the fact that geopolitical tensions have kept a close eye on shipping routes in the Gulf area.
In his address to the world’s larger problems, Prime Minister Modi noted that there is a rising trust gap in international relations due to the exploitation of trade and technology for narrow geopolitical purposes. Even though there are enough resources in the world, he said, trust is lacking, and trust is the bedrock of genuine partnerships and long-term global advancement.
According to the Prime Minister, development projects have the best chance of success when they are in line with people’s hopes and necessities, citing the Indian civilisational principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The World Is One Family). The idea of “Humanity First” is fundamental to India’s foreign policy and development partnerships, he went on to say, and it continues to shape India’s worldwide engagement.
In a world where the global order is constantly shifting, his speech reaffirmed India’s position as an active and accountable global player dedicated to fostering equitable growth, maritime security, peace, and stability.
