The Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, has been the site of IndiGo’s inaugural commercial flight. In addition to improving regional air travel and increasing connectivity across North India, the airline will directly connect the recently inaugurated airport with more than 16 destinations around the country. This would allow for one-stop access between numerous Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns.
Commercial operations were formally launched at the much-anticipated new airport when the initial flight arrived at Noida International Airport from Lucknow and the first outgoing flight departed for Bengaluru.
Passengers in the Delhi-NCR region will have more travel alternatives and the airport infrastructure will be relieved of some congestion as IndiGo begins direct connections from Noida International Airport to over 16 locations across India.
The airline will also make it possible to connect multiple cities with just one stop, including Amritsar and Jodhpur, Bareilly and Bhopal, Chandigarh and Kishangarh, Jammu and Jodhpur, Jaipur and Pantnagar, Kishangarh and Bhopal, and Pantnagar and Jodhpur, among many more. It is believed that these lines will greatly enhance the accessibility of major urban centers to cities in Tier-2 and Tier-3.
In his remarks, IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh hailed the opening of Noida International Airport as a watershed moment in India’s aviation industry’s meteoric rise.
A new chapter in India’s aviation story has begun with the opening of Noida International Airport. According to Singh, Delhi-National Capital Region is currently one of a small number of worldwide megacities that have more than one airport.
Noida International Airport, with its prime location on the Yamuna Motorway, will soon become an important hub for aviation, transport and logistics, adding to the capacity of the airports in the National Capital Region.
The airport’s significance in increasing passenger choice and regional connectivity was emphasised by Christoph Schnellmann, Vice Chairman of Noida International Airport, who hailed IndiGo’s initial operations.
Noida International Airport has started a new chapter by welcoming IndiGo’s inaugural flights. “From day one, passengers will have greater choice and convenience as IndiGo, our launch carrier, connects NIA to key destinations across India,” Schnellmann said.
According to officials, the first phase of Noida International Airport has been finished, and it can handle around 12 million passengers each year. Runways, terminal buildings, and air traffic control towers make up the operational infrastructure.
In order to meet the increasing need for air travel, tourism, trade, and logistical services in Uttar Pradesh and the surrounding NCR region, the airport is anticipated to play a pivotal role.
