Meta Unveils Plus Subscription Service Across Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook

With the worldwide launch of paid membership options for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, Meta is diversifying its revenue streams beyond its original ad-driven strategy. Paid users gain access to premium features and extensive customisation tools.

Although the firm has not yet revealed pricing details for India, they have offered Instagram and Facebook Plus at $3.99/month and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99/month. Meta is attempting to diversify its revenue streams through subscription-based digital services, and this move is a part of that goal.

According to reports, Instagram Plus subscribers will gain access to exclusive Story analytics and visibility tools, including rewatch insights, unlimited Story audience lists, anonymous Story previews and extended Story duration beyond the standard 24-hour limit. In addition to searching through viewer lists, users will have the option to highlight one Story per week for increased exposure.

At the premium level, you may personalise your profile even further with cosmetic changes and features like animated “Super Heart” reactions, app icons, personalised bio fonts, and more options to pin your profile. In addition to having their postings shown in followers’ feeds, subscribers now have the option to post directly to profiles and highlights.

While WhatsApp Plus is all about personalising messages, Facebook Plus is supposed to offer comparable options for engagement and customisation. Premium WhatsApp users will gain access to custom chat themes, exclusive ringtones, premium stickers, additional pinned chats and enhanced list management tools.

Naomi Gleit, Head of Product at Meta, has hinted at an evolving subscription economy by saying the business intends to offer additional premium services over time.

Meta made it clear that their new services are unrelated to Meta Verified, their current paid verification program that specialises in customer assistance, identity authentication, and impersonation protection.

Meta is increasing its drive into recurring digital income sources while also growing into AI-focused subscriptions under the “Meta One” ecosystem. This ecosystem will eventually merge AI, creator, and business-oriented premium products.
