MKU secures contracts for life extension and overhaul of IAF aircraft fleet

MKU Limited is proud to announce a landmark achievement in India’s defence sector: the award of long-term Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) contracts from the Indian Air Force Headquarters. This milestone positions MKU as the first private sector company in India to undertake lifecycle support services for operational military aircraft.

This recognition from the Indian Air Force reflects a significant shift in how fleet sustainment responsibilities are being distributed, and underscores the growing confidence in MKU’s engineering capabilities, quality standards, and capacity to deliver mission-critical outcomes.

Under these contracts, we will deliver comprehensive MRO services for critical aircraft assets operated by the Indian Air Force. The scope encompasses:

·         Advanced structural assessments

·         System-level repairs and diagnostics

·         Full overhaul services

·         Technology-driven maintenance protocols to reduce downtime and extend service life

The company stated, “MKU’s approach will focus on ensuring optimal platform performance, maximising aircraft availability, and maintaining the rigorous aerospace standards that operational readiness demands. The firm is fully committed to meeting this standard. Aircraft maintenance is a precision-driven domain where execution defines credibility, and we approach these contracts with the same engineering discipline and quality rigour that has defined its work across global defence programmes.”

Neeraj Gupta, Managing Director at MKU, was quoted as saying: “Entering the MRO domain reflects our commitment to building advanced, indigenous capabilities that strengthen operational readiness. We are honoured by the trust placed in us by Air Headquarters and remain focused on delivering excellence with precision, reliability, and accountability. Our aim is to contribute meaningfully to India’s defence preparedness through sustained performance and innovation.”

This development is aligned with India’s broader ambition to build genuine self-reliance within its defence ecosystem, not just in manufacturing, but in sustaining military capability under real-world operational conditions.

In modern defence, capability is no longer defined solely by what a country can build, it is defined by what it can keep operational, consistently and at scale. MKU is proud to play a defining role in that mission. With these contract wins, we continue our evolution into a comprehensive defence solutions provider, one that now spans the full spectrum from product supply to sustained platform performance. This milestone marks not just a new chapter for us, but a meaningful step forward for India’s defence preparedness.
