Japan Earthquake : 6.2-Magnitude Quake Strikes Shimane, No Tsunami Alert

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Japan’s Shimane and Tottori prefectures on Tuesday morning, triggering strong tremors but no tsunami warning, authorities said.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake struck at 10:18 a.m. local time at a depth of about 10 km, registering upper-5 intensity in eastern Shimane. Two aftershocks followed shortly.

Officials confirmed no damage at the Shimane nuclear power plant and no injuries were reported. Bullet train services in parts of western Japan were briefly suspended due to a power outage, with services expected to resume later in the day.
