DDWS Leads 3rd Peyjal Samvad with District Collectors to Enhance Rural Water Governance

The 3rd District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad, held by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, focused on improving the quality and sustainability of drinking water services through community ownership and grassroots leadership.

Chaired by Secretary Ashok K.K. Meena, the event emphasized operational effectiveness and Gram Panchayats’ critical roles in ensuring continuous, quality water access.

Presentations by district officials highlighted innovative local solutions, such as solar-powered systems in Mamit, Mizoram, and gravity-fed systems in Alluri Sitharama Raju, Andhra Pradesh, addressing diverse geographical challenges.

Key protocols for the Commissioning and Handing Over of Rural Water Supply Schemes were discussed, featuring a structured four-phase framework aimed at maintaining quality and transparency.

The event concluded with calls for enhancing source sustainability, community training, and integrating water conservation efforts, with over 300 participants sharing insights into effective rural water service delivery.

Strengthening Har Ghar Jal Through Collaboration

The 3rd District Collectors’ Peyjal Samvad reflects NJJM’s sustained focus on empowering district-level institutions, improving technical governance frameworks, and promoting community ownership for lasting water security.
