Railways in Mizoram have experienced significant enthusiasm from passengers and freight customers following the inauguration of the 51.38-km Bairabi-Sairang railway line on September 13.
The Northeast Frontier Railway reported remarkable occupancy rates, with the Sairang-Anand Vihar Rajdhani Express achieving 162.5% occupancy.
Mizoram’s capital Aizawl became the fourth state capital in the Northeast connected by rail.
On the freight side, Sairang station has already handled various consignments, including cement and stone chips, indicating a robust demand for railway connectivity, which is expected to enhance economic growth and market access in the region.
