POWERGRID Boosts Solar Power Evacuation

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has informed the stock exchanges that it has fully commissioned the Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Bidar (2500 MW), Karnataka (TBCB). The project achieved its Date of Commercial Operation (DOCO) on October 5, 2026, and the company received the notification on October 8, 2026.

The project was originally entrusted to POWERGRID Bidar Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. The subsidiary was subsequently amalgamated with POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission Limited, effective March 1, 2026, pursuant to an order issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on January 27, 2026.

POWERGRID Strengthens Solar Power Evacuation Infrastructure

The commissioning of the transmission scheme will facilitate the evacuation of power from the 2,500 MW Solar Energy Zone in Bidar, Karnataka. The infrastructure will support the transmission of electricity generated from the solar energy zone and strengthen the network required to integrate renewable power into the grid.

The project marks the completion of a transmission scheme designed to support solar power evacuation in Karnataka. By enabling the movement of electricity from the Bidar solar energy zone, the infrastructure will contribute to the region’s renewable energy transmission capacity.

POWERGRID’s commissioning update reflects progress in developing transmission infrastructure to support renewable energy projects. Efficient power evacuation facilities are essential for connecting generation sources with the electricity grid and enabling the delivery of renewable power to the wider network.
