BHEL Investment: Board Approves Rs 65 Crore Equity Infusion in NBPPL

BHEL has approved a further Rs 65 crore equity investment in NTPC BHEL Power Projects, its 50:50 joint venture with NTPC, to support the company’s power and infrastructure business.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has approved a further BHEL investment of Rs 65 crore in NTPC BHEL Power Projects Private Limited (NBPPL), its joint venture with NTPC Limited.

The BHEL Board approved the equity contribution at its meeting held on September 14, 2026. The investment will be made in one or more tranches.

BHEL Investment to Strengthen Joint Venture

The approved BHEL investment will be made as the company’s equity contribution to NBPPL. Both promoter companies will make the equity investment at face value on an arm’s-length basis.

BHEL and NTPC hold an equal 50:50 equity stake in NBPPL. BHEL stated that its 50 per cent shareholding will be maintained following the investment.

The company disclosed the decision through an exchange filing.

BHEL and NTPC Joint Venture Focuses on Power Projects

NBPPL was incorporated in April 2008 as a joint venture between BHEL and NTPC.

The joint venture undertakes engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for power plants and other infrastructure projects. It also manufactures and supplies power plant equipment in India and overseas markets.

The business aims to leverage the capabilities of both promoter companies across the power and infrastructure sectors.

BHEL Approves Rs 65 Crore Equity Contribution

According to BHEL’s exchange filing, the Board approved a further investment of Rs 65 crore in NBPPL.

The investment will be made in one or more tranches. Both BHEL and NTPC will contribute at face value while maintaining the existing 50:50 ownership structure.

The BHEL investment will therefore not alter the company’s shareholding in the joint venture.

NBPPL Reports Recent Turnover

NBPPL recorded a provisional turnover of Rs 1.04 crore in 2025-26, according to BHEL.

The joint venture reported a turnover of Rs 3.48 crore in 2024-25 and Rs 18.19 crore in 2023-24.

The latest equity contribution comes as NBPPL continues to undertake power plant EPC contracts and equipment manufacturing activities in India and international markets.
