DVC R&D Partnership with IIT Kharagpur to Drive Power Sector Innovation

DVC R&D collaboration with IIT Kharagpur will focus on AI, predictive maintenance, digital solutions, dam monitoring and sustainable power plant operations.

Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and IIT Kharagpur have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen DVC R&D and drive innovation across the power sector. The partnership will focus on artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, predictive maintenance, digital solutions and sustainable power plant operations.

The MoU was signed at DVC Headquarters in Kolkata in the presence of Shri Rajesh Pandey, IAS, Chairman, DVC.

DVC R&D to Focus on Advanced Power Sector Solutions

The DVC R&D collaboration will cover several technology and research areas related to DVC’s operations. The key areas include:

  • Dashboard development and digital solutions
  • Dam and plant defect and condition monitoring
  • AI, data analytics and predictive maintenance
  • Sustainable and efficient power plant operations
  • Water management and logistics
  • Secure AI for plant and grid optimisation

The collaboration will combine DVC’s operational expertise with IIT Kharagpur’s research and technical capabilities.

DVC R&D Partnership to Support Predictive Maintenance

Under the MoU, IIT Kharagpur will provide technical and advisory support to DVC for research and development projects.

The DVC R&D initiative will explore AI and data analytics for predictive maintenance and condition monitoring. These technologies can help identify potential issues and improve the monitoring of power plants and other critical assets.

The partnership will also support the development of digital solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and asset management.

DVC R&D to Strengthen Sustainable Power Operations

The collaboration will also focus on sustainable and efficient power plant operations. Areas such as water management and logistics will form part of the joint research initiatives.

The partnership will explore secure AI applications for plant and grid optimisation. These solutions can support smarter decision-making and improve the efficiency of power sector operations.

IIT Kharagpur to Provide Technical Support

IIT Kharagpur will provide technical and advisory expertise to support DVC’s innovation initiatives. The institute’s research capabilities will complement DVC’s experience in power generation and infrastructure management.

The DVC R&D partnership is aimed at developing practical technology solutions for power plants, dams and other operational assets. It will also support DVC’s efforts to adopt advanced technologies for smarter and more sustainable power sector operations.
