Western Coalfields Launches Kalyan Setu Portal for Retired Employees

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas at its Nagpur headquarters on 31 October 2026 and launched the ‘Kalyan Setu’ portal for retired employees. The digital platform will enable eligible pensioners to submit medical life certificates online. It will also facilitate medical card renewal and the continuation of medical facilities, subject to applicable rules and eligibility.

The celebration marked the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, widely known as the Iron Man of India. Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), WCL, administered the National Unity Day pledge to officers and employees.

Shri Sandeep Paranjape, Director (Technical–Operations), and Shri Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, Chief Vigilance Officer, also attended the programme. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the unity, integrity and security of the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pande recalled Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s contribution to national integration. He urged employees to follow Patel’s ideals of dedication, visionary leadership and service to the nation. He also emphasised the importance of mutual cooperation, coordination and team spirit in strengthening the organisation. These values, he noted, support both national unity and WCL’s organisational growth.

Kalyan Setu to Simplify Medical Services for Retirees

A major highlight of the celebration was the launch of ‘Kalyan Setu’, a digital portal developed to support WCL’s retired officers and employees. Built around the motto “Your Service, Our Commitment”, the platform will allow eligible retirees to submit their medical life certificates online.

The initiative aims to simplify the submission process and reduce the need for pensioners to visit offices in person. The certificates submitted through the portal will also facilitate medical card renewal and the continuation of eligible medical facilities, in accordance with applicable rules and guidelines.

To assist beneficiaries, WCL will establish help desks across its areas. These centres will guide retirees through registration, portal access and online life certificate submission. They will also address queries and help resolve technical and procedural difficulties.

WCL’s Industrial Relations Department and Systems Department jointly conceptualised and developed the portal under the guidance of CMD Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande. A large number of serving and retired officers and employees attended the celebration and launch.

The launch of Kalyan Setu marks a step towards strengthening digital services and welfare support for WCL’s retired workforce. By simplifying medical life certificate submission and providing assistance through area-level help desks, Western Coalfields aims to make access to eligible medical facilities more convenient for its former employees.Western Coalfields Launches Kalyan Setu Portal for Retired Employees
