On the PMRef (Prime Minister’s References/Reforms) webpage, the new ‘Reform’ module has been established by the central government. This is part of a nationwide initiative to speed up reforms that promote Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business. All government agencies will be able to submit information about policy changes, governance efforts, and administrative actions taken in their respective fields to the newly operational digital portal. The reform process will be institutionalised and government actions will be monitored in a timely manner.
The new directives mandate that all ministries find ways to streamline processes, lessen the load of compliance, boost the delivery of public services, and fortify the business climate as a whole. Recommendations from the High-Level Committee (HLC), the Informal Group of Ministers (IGoM), or even internal initiatives identified by specific ministries could form the basis of the proposed reforms. The government has mandated that all ministries regularly update the PMRef portal with details of all reform measures and their implementation status.
Starting this week, all ministries and departments are required to submit weekly progress reports by 12 pm on Fridays. This is to guarantee greater accountability and ongoing monitoring. Transparency, timely evaluations, and sector-wide change acceleration are all goals of the structured reporting method. Better coordination among ministries is another goal of the effort, which aims to achieve this by developing a standardised digital platform for monitoring the implementation of policies and the enhancement of governance.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), together with other government agencies and major ministries, uses the PMRef site, a secure digital governance platform, to keep tabs on important infrastructure projects, administrative initiatives, and policy reforms. The ability to effectively track milestones, action items, and choices made at high-level review sessions is made possible by its integration with platforms like PRAGATI. The government’s goal is to improve India’s economic environment and public service delivery by creating a more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric governance framework. To achieve this, reform data will be centralised and inter-ministerial communication will be enhanced.
Another milestone in the effort to improve digital governance and administrative reforms has been reached with the release of the PMRef Reform module. The program aims to improve policy execution, boost accountability, and accelerate reforms that benefit citizens and businesses alike through enabling real-time monitoring and coordinated implementation.
