Following ACC approval, Anurag Jain will serve as chief executive officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog for a two-year term on behalf of the central government. The incumbent is an IAS officer hailing from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, having entered the service in 1989.
The official order states that Jain will remain in his role as CEO for the two-year extension he was approved for, or until further instructions are given. His appointment is subject to the same conditions and terms as his predecessor’s.
Anurag Jain has a distinguished background in administration spanning nearly four decades, having served in key capacities in the federal and state governments of Madhya Pradesh and India. Developments in infrastructure, industrial policy, investment promotion, and reforms to governance have all been a part of his work.
Jain will be in charge of the operations of India’s leading public policy institute, NITI Aayog, in his role as CEO. Coordination of reforms with states and federal ministries, promotion of evidence-based policymaking, and enhancement of cooperative and competitive federalism are all areas in which he will excel.
His appointment coincides with NITI Aayog’s ongoing work to shape policies that will support the government’s Viksit Bharat vision, improve governance, encourage innovation, and accelerate economic growth. Moreover, the institution’s policy initiatives aim to improve employability, entrepreneurship, and industry-relevant skilling.
Anurag Jain is anticipated to bolster NITI Aayog’s function in promoting policy reforms and assisting India’s development plan for the long term, thanks to his vast experience in administration.
