World Habitat Day Celebrates the Creativity and Urban Vision of Underprivileged Children

HUDCO has been hosting a painting competition for underprivileged children for over thirty years to commemorate World Habitat Day.

This initiative, supported by the MoHUA and various NGOs, allows vulnerable children to express their vision of an ideal urban habitat. The latest exhibition, inaugurated by Minister Tokhan Sahu, showcased award-winning paintings from the 2025 competition, which involved 176 participants from different NGOs and orphanages, competing in Junior and Senior categories.

The theme for this year, “Urban Solutions to Crisis,” aligned with UN-Habitat, aimed to encourage innovative ideas for sustainable urban futures. HUDCO remains committed to empowering children’s creative expression and promoting inclusive urban development.
