2,616 Villages Covered Under Two Phases
More than 2,616 villages are covered under VVP-I and VVP-II.
VVP-I primarily focuses on villages along India’s northern border. It operates as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme in partnership with state governments.
VVP-II expands the development initiative to other international land borders. It operates as a fully Centre-funded Central Sector Scheme.
Together, the two phases aim to strengthen infrastructure while supporting local economies and community development.
Vibrant Villages Programme Strengthens Connectivity and Livelihoods
India shares more than 15,000 km of international land borders with seven neighbouring countries — Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan and Afghanistan.
