125 UK leaders, including CEOs and university Vice Chancellors, are accompanying the prime minister on a trade mission to Mumbai aimed at enhancing UK-India ties following a significant trade deal signed in July.
This agreement is expected to reduce tariffs from an average of 15% to 3% for UK products, facilitating access to the fast-growing Indian market. Notable companies like Rolls Royce and British Airways are part of the delegation, which marks the largest-ever UK government trade mission to India.
The visit could raise bilateral trade by £25.5 billion annually and improve market access, benefiting SMEs through easier trade processes. The Prime Minister emphasizes the deal as a catalyst for growth, stating it will provide greater opportunities for British businesses and enhance consumer choice while creating jobs at home.
