Rajnath Singh, India’s Defence Minister, and US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signed a 10-year ‘Framework for the US-India Major Defence Partnership’ in Kuala Lumpur on October 31, marking a significant step in deepening defence ties between the two nations during the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus.
Singh highlighted that this framework will guide their defence relationship and enhance strategic convergence, emphasizing partnership as essential for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Hegseth remarked that the agreement strengthens defence collaboration, which is key for regional stability. Singh is in Malaysia for a two-day visit and is expected to engage with other defence leaders at the forum.
