Railway Board Issues Guidelines for Train Garbage Management

The Railway Board has issued guidelines to improve the systematic collection and safe disposal of garbage by On-Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) and Pantry Car staff during train journeys.

The directive emphasizes the need for compliance to enhance cleanliness and passenger comfort. Staff are required to collect garbage from passenger compartments and dispose of it at designated stations using sealed bags.

A month-long ‘Samvaad’ program will engage on-board staff through dialogues, instructional videos, and feedback sessions aimed at promoting waste management practices aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Strict compliance measures are implemented, with violations leading to potential contract terminations for OBHS and Pantry Car licensees. This initiative builds on prior measures to ensure effective garbage disposal and improve the overall travel experience for passengers.
