As part of its ongoing efforts to promote Hindi as the Official Language and encourage its wider usage in government and public sector communication, Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a Miniratna-I Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, held a Hindi Essay Writing Competition at its Corporate Office in Kolkata on 22 July 2026.
Participants included officials and employees from a variety of Kolkata’s Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and the event was hosted by the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) (PSU-2).
Participating with gusto, personnel from several central public sector organisations exhibited their writing talents and brought attention to the significance of Hindi in administrative communication and official work.
By taking these steps, Balmer Lawrie is showing its support for the Official Language Policy goals of the Government of India, which include encouraging the increasing usage of Hindi in official correspondence.
In addition to promoting a culture of linguistic inclusion and administrative excellence, the tournament gave participants a chance to network, improve their language skills, and call for more official use of Hindi in their day-to-day operations.
