Prime Minister Modi Holds Meeting with Delegation of the 16th Finance Commission

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the delegation of the 16th Finance Commission (XVIFC), led by Chairman Dr. Arvind Panagariya, to discuss their report covering five years starting April 1, 2026.

The report recommends the distribution of tax proceeds between the Union and States, allocation shares to States, and financing for Disaster Management. The XVIFC’s findings were developed through extensive consultations with various governmental and academic bodies.

The report will be publicly available once presented in Parliament by the Finance Minister, as required by Article 281. The commission was established by the President of India and included several members alongside the Chairman.
