Power Partnership: India & Africa Strengthen Energy Collaboration at Bharat Electricity Summit

Ministers, ambassadors, senior officials, and global energy leaders gathered at the India-Africa Strategic Partnership Meet during the Bharat Energy Summit (BES) 2026 in New Delhi to enhance cooperation in the power sector on a bilateral and international level.

Strategic insights from NTPC Limited and Africa50 were presented after a warm welcome speech by Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited.

The Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, the Chief Minister of Haryana, and the Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy were among the senior Indian officials who delivered key policy perspectives, reiterating India’s dedication to enhancing energy partnerships with Africa.

African ministers from Malawi and Mauritius, as well as ambassadors, high commissioners, and top bureaucrats, were in attendance at the summit. Contributions to debates on infrastructure development and funding came from global institutions like the World Bank Group, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited, and the Africa Infrastructure Development Association.

After the Chairperson of the Central Electricity Authority gave a thorough presentation about India’s power sector, there was an interactive session when representatives from the governments of Haryana and India discussed potential areas of cooperation with African nations.

The forum, which was moderated and supported by Ernst & Young as a knowledge partner, gave national leaders the opportunity to discuss their country’s priorities, changes that are currently underway, and potential areas of strategic cooperation with India. The expansion of renewable energy sources, transmission infrastructure, joint ventures, investment partnerships, capacity building, and institutional strengthening were the main topics of discussion.

At the meeting, participants reaffirmed their aim to help both regions’ power sectors flourish in a way that is sustainable, dependable, and scalable. This will help establish India as an important ally in the fight for energy security and better infrastructure around the world.
