During his two-day visit to Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a massive outreach program centred around women and start a huge development push.
Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warmly welcomed the Prime Minister at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.
The BLW Ground’s “Jan-Aakrosh Mahila Sammelan,” where thousands of women are scheduled to participate, is a major feature of the visit. There is a major focus on women-led leadership and empowerment, as the event is being run exclusively by women, from anchoring to security.
A group of prominent dignitaries, including the prime minister, prayed at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham earlier.
While in India, Modi will launch 163 projects with a combined budget of ₹6,332 crore and lay the groundwork for them. This encompasses the launch of 113 new projects with a combined value of ₹5,277 crore and the commencement of 50 projects with a combined value of ₹1,054 crore. To stimulate development in the Purvanchal area, these projects include a wide range of topics, including railway overbridges, roads, schools, hospitals, water, sanitation, renewable energy, and urban planning.
He will also pay ₹105 crore to Amul-affiliated milk producers as an incentive.
With the launch of two Amrit Bharat Express trains, rail connection will also gain a boost. One train will run from Banaras to Pune (by Hadapsar), and the other will run from Ayodhya to Mumbai (via Lokmanya Tilak Terminus).
This is Modi’s 54th visit to his constituency, and his first since 2026. His goals for the visit include boosting women’s engagement in politics and speeding up regional development.
