OPaL Managing Director: B H V Prasad Takes Charge

B. H. V. Prasad has taken charge as the Managing Director of ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL) after serving as Executive Director (Projects) at Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL). He brings more than three decades of experience in the energy sector to his new role.

OPaL Managing Director Brings 30 Years of Experience

Prasad joined MRPL in 1993 and held several leadership positions during his career. His responsibilities spanned Projects, Marketing, Human Resources, Corporate Strategy and other key business functions.

He superannuated from MRPL as Executive Director (Projects) on May 31, 2026. His extensive experience includes refinery expansion and upgradation, project execution and strategic infrastructure development.

B H V Prasad’s Professional Background

A Mechanical Engineer with an M.Tech from Manipal Institute of Technology, Prasad has been associated with several major growth and infrastructure initiatives during his career.

His experience in managing large-scale industrial projects and corporate functions is expected to support his responsibilities at OPaL. The company operates an integrated petrochemical complex at Dahej, Gujarat, and is part of the ONGC Group’s downstream and petrochemical business.

Prasad to Lead OPaL’s Petrochemical Business

As OPaL Managing Director, Prasad will lead the company’s operations from its integrated petrochemical complex in Dahej. OPaL forms an important part of the ONGC Group’s downstream business ecosystem and contributes to India’s domestic petrochemical manufacturing capabilities.

His appointment has also been welcomed in Coastal Karnataka and the Tulu Nadu region, reflecting his professional journey from MRPL to the leadership of a major ONGC Group company.

With more than 30 years of experience across projects, strategy and other energy-sector functions, B. H. V. Prasad’s appointment as OPaL Managing Director marks a significant leadership transition for the company.
