NTPC Bongaigaon Model School project will receive ₹5 crore under NTPC Bongaigaon’s CSR initiative to strengthen educational infrastructure in North Lakhimpur, Assam.
NTPC Bongaigaon has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, for developing Basantala Bisweswar Changakoti Memorial Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan as a Model School.
The project will focus on improving classrooms, practical learning facilities and access to digital educational resources for children from surrounding communities.
NTPC Bongaigaon Model School Project Gets ₹5 Crore CSR Support
The NTPC Bongaigaon Model School project will be implemented with a CSR investment of ₹5 crore.
The proposed infrastructure will include a ground floor and an Assam-type first floor, covering a combined area of approximately 1,926 square metres.
The facilities will include 13 classrooms, five laboratories, a digital classroom and a library. The project will also provide a staff common room, administrative spaces and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls.
NTPC Bongaigaon Signs MoA with Shishu Shiksha Samiti
The MoA was signed by Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, NTPC Bongaigaon, and Jagannath Rajbonshi, General Secretary, Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam.
The signing ceremony was attended by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; Bhushan Goswami, CSR and Grant Coordinator, Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam; Sushil Kumar, AGM (Civil); Roshan Dungdung, AGM (HR); Debaleena Das, DGM (HR); Smriti Das, Executive (CSR); and Rounak Kundu, Engineer (CCD-Township), NTPC Bongaigaon.
Model School to Strengthen Learning Infrastructure
The additional classrooms will increase the school’s capacity to accommodate students. The laboratories will provide facilities for practical learning.
The digital classroom and library will expand access to educational resources. The project will also support academic, cultural and co-curricular activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, said the initiative is part of NTPC’s strategic CSR interventions in Assam. He highlighted the focus on strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality learning opportunities.
NTPC Bongaigaon Model School Project to Run for 36 Months
The project is planned for implementation over 36 months. Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, will undertake the development work, while NTPC will monitor progress through reports and site visits.
Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, is a registered educational society affiliated with Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan. Based in Guwahati, it operates a network of Sankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan schools across Assam.
The project is expected to create durable educational infrastructure and improve access to learning facilities, particularly for children from economically weaker communities.
