On April 21, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (HPCL) first integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district.
Developed by Hindustan Refinery and Petrochemical Limited, the ₹79,459 crore project is anticipated to play a crucial role in ensuring India’s energy security and propel industrial growth in Rajasthan. Both imported crude oil and crude oil produced in Rajasthan will be refined at the facility, which has a yearly capacity of 9 million metric tonnes.
A variety of petrochemical products, such as polypropylene, benzene, toluene, HDPE, linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), and butadiene, can be manufactured at this complex. Transportation, pharmaceuticals, paints, and packaging are some of the downstream businesses that are anticipated to benefit from these outputs, which is good news for local value addition.
As part of the tour, the prime minister will speak to the public and wave off LPG tankers made at the refinery, signalling the start of important operational tasks. The plant is now producing LPG for commercial use.
The project, which will take place over about 4,400 acres, will help improve skills, expand the regional economy, and create a lot of jobs, both directly and indirectly. Improving energy independence and decreasing dependency on petrochemical imports are further goals.
Infrastructure, transportation management, and public amenities are just a few areas where state authorities are hard at work with security and logistical preparations for the visit. The inauguration event will be executed without a hitch thanks to the coordination of senior officials and representatives from HPCL and related departments.
