NALCO Pottangi Bauxite Mines project has achieved a key development milestone with the completion of the Government Land Lease Deed process in Koraput, Odisha. The agreement covers land required for the Overland Conveyor Corridor and Water Intake Facility.
The land lease supports the development and operationalisation of NALCO’s captive Pottangi bauxite mines. It is expected to strengthen the company’s captive raw-material supply chain.
NALCO Pottangi Bauxite Mines Project Advances
The completion of the land lease process marks an important step for the Pottangi Bauxite Mines project.
The leased land will support two critical facilities. These are the Overland Conveyor Corridor and Water Intake Facility.
Both facilities are important for the development and future operations of the captive bauxite mines.
Land Lease Supports Pottangi Bauxite Operations
The Government Land Lease Deed was signed by the ED (M&R), NALCO, and CGM (Land), IDCO.
Shri Jagdish Arora, Director (P&T), NALCO, was present during the signing.
Officials from Semiliguda and Pottangi also attended the event.
The agreement clears an important land-related requirement for the project.
NALCO Strengthens Captive Raw-Material Supply Chain
The Pottangi Bauxite Mines project is expected to support NALCO’s captive raw-material requirements.
Access to captive bauxite resources can strengthen the company’s supply chain and support the long-term requirements of its aluminium operations.
The completion of the land lease process therefore provides further momentum to the project’s development.

The latest milestone brings the project closer to operationalisation.
The Overland Conveyor Corridor and Water Intake Facility will form part of the supporting infrastructure for the mining project.
With the land lease process completed, NALCO can advance the development of the required infrastructure for its captive bauxite mining operations.
