MP CM Hails Khargone Solar Plant as ‘National Achievement’

Jalood Solar Power Plant, a 60 MW facility in Khargone that was opened by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, is being hailed as a watershed initiative in renewable energy and citizen-driven investment. The initiative, which involves a public-private cooperation and was developed at a cost of 271 crore rupees, is funded by Green Bonds, which allow for direct public involvement.

Participating people can put up to Rs 10 lakh into bonds that will yield about 8% per year for 20 years and have early redemption possibilities. In addition to helping meet pollution reduction goals, the plant will provide electricity to the Indore Municipal Corporation.

The Chief Minister praised the project’s scalable concept that integrates renewable energy production with public funding, and he said that it will be financially viable within ten years. In highlighting broader accomplishments in the energy sector, he also mentioned the state’s shift from power shortfalls to surplus availability.
