Manipur has launched free LPG connections for eligible women under Phase 3.0 of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
This initiative aims to empower women, enhance health outcomes, and reduce household burdens by providing access to LPG. Rajjyoti Das from the Indane Divisional Office noted the scheme’s goal of providing 25 lakh additional connections, especially targeting rural and underserved areas.
To date, 222,010 connections have been provided in Manipur. The PMUY was initiated in May 2016 to grant deposit-free LPG connections to women from economically disadvantaged households, with over 10.33 crore connections provided nationwide in previous phases.
