Maharashtra has launched the MATRIX program (Maharashtra Technology, Research Incubator and Xcelerator) to enhance its startup ecosystem.
Aiming to establish approximately 200 incubation centers over the next few years, the initiative focuses on supporting startups in sectors such as AI, IoT, Blockchain, and Cyber Security.
It reserves at least 10% of space for women and SC/ST entrepreneurs and emphasizes collaboration with government, private sector, and research institutions. Financial assistance includes subsidized rent, with a “non-profit-no-loss” operational model.
The program seeks to benefit around 10,000 startups, generate over Rs 1 lakh crore in revenue, and transform Maharashtra into a global innovation hub with a focus on key areas like Industry 4.0 and green energy.
