After Sanjay Kumar Jain resigned, the responsibility of leading the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) was passed on to Rahul Himalian by the Ministry of Railways. The appointment will guarantee that the Navratna public sector enterprise continues to be led by the same person beginning July 20, 2026.
Rahul Himalian has over 26 years of substantial experience in the Indian Railways and IRCTC. He is a 1999-batched Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer. He is qualified to lead the organization through this change because of his extensive background in railway operations, tourism, administration, infrastructure, and strategic management.
His tenure at IRCTC, a Schedule ‘A’ Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, began on February 16, 2024, and he has been a Whole-Time Functional Director and Director (Tourism & Marketing) on the Board of Directors ever since. His present job as head of Tourism, IT, HRD, infrastructure, administration, and Rajbhasha is crucial to the expansion plans of the company.
An outstanding academic background is also had by Rahul Himalian. He attended The Lawrence School, earned a degree in electrical engineering with a gold medal from NIT Hamirpur, and earned a master’s degree in engineering with a perfect score of 10.00 from IIT Delhi. In addition to being named Best All-Round Student, he received the President’s Gold Medal.
Rahul Himalian will continue to serve as Director (Tourism & Marketing) and will now also be responsible for guiding the entire operations, strategic planning, and future growth of IRCTC as an additional chief medical director. His leadership is expected to propel IRCTC to new heights in railway tourism, catering, and digital services, according to the corporation.
