The Creating Intergenerational Bonding initiative will connect children, parents and grandparents through a nationwide school programme. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment will sign an MoU with Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission to implement the initiative.
Creating Intergenerational Bonding Across 200 Schools
The Creating Intergenerational Bonding programme will be introduced across 200 pilot schools nationwide. It will use play-based and evidence-informed activities to strengthen emotional and cultural connections between generations.
The programme will include Co-Learning Games, a bilingual Resource Centre website and teacher certification. A scalable implementation model will also be developed for wider expansion.
Creating Intergenerational Bonding Through Schools
The initiative will give children, parents and grandparents opportunities to interact and learn together. Senior citizens will be able to share their knowledge, experiences and values with younger generations.
Parents will be encouraged to connect traditional values with modern lifestyles. Children will benefit from stronger cultural connections and greater emotional security.
Creating Intergenerational Bonding Supports Senior Citizens
The programme will complement existing senior citizen welfare initiatives of the Ministry, including the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana and the Elderline helpline.
The initiative will create more opportunities for senior citizens to engage with younger generations. It will also promote respect for elders and strengthen family relationships.
Ramakrishna Mission to Implement the Programme
Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission will serve as the implementing partner. The organisation has more than a century of experience in education, healthcare, culture and humanitarian service.
A Knowledge Development Partner will support research, design and assessment. This will help create an evidence-informed model that can be scaled across the country.
Creating Intergenerational Bonding Promotes Inclusive Development
The MoU will be signed in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from the Social Justice Ministry and Ramakrishna Mission.
The Creating Intergenerational Bonding initiative reflects the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. It aims to bring generations together through shared learning, cultural continuity and stronger family relationships.
